Learning to climb and wild camping
An experience for those who would like to be outdoors and in nature. Camping in mountains with a trained mountain guide and for those who would like to learn to rock climb.
Here is your chance to learn and experience the techniques of climbing as well as climbing in two beautiful South Africa sceneries. From the ages of 14 and up and in good health and pretty fit this trip is for you.
Spend the first days on the climbing wall and local walls in and around Grahamstown. Learning all the techniques that you will need to learn to rock climb.
○ Topics covered include: equipment, natural and bolted anchor set-ups, knots, single-pitch climbing, top-roping, abseiling, belaying, cleaning, route finding and guidebooks, lead climbing, climbing techniques, crag etiquette, safety and basic emergency procedures.
This is done on the Rhodes university indoor wall at a couple of beginner rock faces found around Grahamstown. Once you have a basic understanding of the teqniques we will take you to two beautiful destinations to practice what you have just learnt.
The first of these locations is in the Hogsback mountain range. We set up camp at the foot of the climbing mountain and do a couple of climbs. The rest of the time is spent hiking and just relaxing in this magnificent bush.
The second climbing face that we use is Pinnacle Gorge located in the Baviaans district with more tougher climbs and experience levels. Giving you a chance to push your limits and taking what you have just learnt to the extreme.
